Vivek Prakriya
For Redmond City Council
Vivek is a lifelong Redmond resident with a deep commitment to public service.
He currently serves as the youth advisor on Redmond’s Human Services Commission, where he helps guide city efforts to support our most vulnerable community members. A proud product of Redmond’s public schools, Vivek is a familiar face at City Hall—often the last person in the audience at Council meetings.
Vivek entered the University of Washington directly out of Middle School, where he's completing a triple-major in Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics.
He brings a problem-solver’s mindset and a unique technical perspective to the table. As a software engineer at Amazon, he works on the cutting edge of generative AI, building payment systems that help resolve customer issues. His academic research has explored the intersection of machine learning and quantum field theory, including work that used AI to identify subatomic particles.
Outside of work, Vivek enjoys skiing, playing guitar, and cheering on the Seahawks. He also admits to playing chess—enthusiastically, if not expertly. In 2022, his Beatles cover band took first place in Redmond’s Battle of the Bands at Derby Days.
